Since there were so few of us at the brainstorming session, I've set up this thread so you can add your two bits from what we discussed, and also add your two bits from the agenda as well.

Here's the agenda:

A player is leaving & status of her character(s)

The upcoming rescue

Talking to people about subplots/posting subplots on the site

Using the timeline

Modifications needed for Lana (Vince's wife)

Here's my thoughts on stuff:

The upcoming rescue
I'd be willing to handle the call coming in from John as was suggested in the brainstorming session. Di and I've talked a little bit about how that would be handled as Vince will be on the island. I'm not comfortable with attempting the stuff with Jeff giving orders in the lounge though - so Lynn or Liz you're welcome to that. I'd also like to due a reaction post with Vince after the TB2 group has left.

Di and I also talked about some things involving Vince after the rescue. I think Jeff and Vince would have a conversation about Vince's thoughts about what he just witnessed. Jeff would want to see if Vince had any questions and Vince would reveal to Jeff at this point about Lana being paralyzed. The thought is that this would occur while the IR crew is making their way back to the island (or maybe after the debriefing if anyone has an objection to it happening while the crew is coming back to the island). Also - would Vince be allowed to sit in on the debriefing - see things from start to finish so to say. I'd like to have him do so. Di had suggested Scott may have an issue with that. Anyone else have any thoughts?

This whole topic kind of got started with me I think anyway. I'd like for us to pursue it as I think it would be interesting and could be fun. The Tracy boys are after all single, young men. I know Virgil and Alan are pursuing on island romances but that isn't going to happen for all five of them. I definitely think that one of them would be looking for some companionship. I think it would add a new dimension to Gordon if we used him. Another side to him other than the practical joker that he is usually featured as.

Quick note- Since Jeff was in a wheelchair after his accident some sort of ramp to the living room/office/den must have been built then. Also to the pool.

The main changes needed might be to the apartment kitchen. Lower counter tops and cupboards, different appliances, wider doors. And some sort of shower/tub arrangement that can handle the wheelchair. They might combind two apartments as part of that. Maybe someone will volunteer to swap apartments? so they can combine two? Were the center ones the 2 bedroom or the end ones?

Also a way for Lana to go swimming and to get to the beach.
Vince might want to take his family out on one of the Tracy's boats at some point.

I don't know if this will work for this situation or not but I thought I'd throw it out there. There is a nursing home in my area that has four floors. For evacuation purposes, the home has chutes on the third and fourth floors. In an evacuation, the patients are sent down the chute instead of trying to evacuate them down the steps- this method is faster, safer for the residents, and safer for the rescuers who would otherwise have to find a way to move partial or completely immobile patients down the stairs. Maybe some kind of chute system can be installed at the cliff house for emergency evacuations?

Susan mentioned Jeff's injury and things already being in place. Seeing as Jeff's injuries were a temporary situation, would everything have been built to stay permanently or would they have put in temporary solutions? Granted that situation would give them ideas of what needs to be done to make the facilities accessible for someone in a wheelchair. As for the pool area- would something have been put in place in the situation of Jeff's injury? I think they would have concentrated more on things in the house than outside of the villa - but that's just my thought on the matter.

On the off-island romance topic- I think it would be a interesting dimension to Gordon's character to explore. I also liked the character that Robin suggested in the thread - Alysha Dale (or something like that)? I'd vote for going ahead and pursuing that storyline.

I've got a couple of websites to help with coming up with modifications within the apartment itself. As for living arrangements - I think it was decided that Vince, Lana and Lea would be in a two bedroom apartment and that Aaron would get the apartment next to him rather than knocking out any walls and trying to combine apartments.

I definitely see this as something that could happen. The main thing would being able to get the wheelchair to the dock/boat pen and possibly on and off the boat depending on which boat they would be using.

I just read the transcript for the April session, and have a comment to make regarding chat about the WG contacting Scott. My thought when writing the post was that it wasn't a security breach.

People in the WG would have realized that the manager would try to contact IR, and figured at that point that IR was responding. They knew the organization's name and what their vessels were called. So they broadcast on all frequencies, calling the "International Rescue vessel currently en route to Iceland". When Scott answered, the WG continued the conversation on that specific frequency.

So all the WG knows is the frequency one of the Thunderbirds answers on. They may think they all use the same one, in order to easily communicate between each ship, but they don't know for certain. And IR could rotate frequencies randomly, thus frustrating anyone's attempts to listen in. Of course, the security program installed earlier will also prohibit that.

The one main thing we didn't get to on the agenda was: when do we make the break for the next chapter. We already have over 100 posts for Chapter 13, and it might be easier to break the chapter after the avalanche rescue, but before the mine rescue. That would mean starting off Chapter 14 with the mine rescue.

What do y'all think? And if you have any ideas for the next chapter's title, please post them in the title thread on the Suggestion box. When we have a consensus on which way to break this chapter, we'll put up a poll for the title.

Starting Chapter 14 with the mine rescue works for me.

As for the WG contacting Scott, Liz's explanation sounds good. I think we can safely say that if they reached Scott, they could also be able to reach Virgil if they wanted to in the same manner. Also, John up in TB5 would be able to determine that the WG is broadcasting on the multiple frequencies as he's monitoring frequencies scanning for possible rescue calls.

I had an idea for a scenario in the avalanche rescue. What if the ski patrol finds a survivor and is digging them out/ or has them dug out when the TB2 crew arrives. TB7 would be the closest medical facilities. Would they be able to move TB7 to them as its a hovercraft or bring the victim to TB7? Or a combination of both?

At that point, probably bring TB7 to the victim. Full-scale efforts hadn't started quite yet and it could be done.

If you all had a chance to see the avalanche page at Wikipedia, there are some up-and-coming items being used by skiers, etc., in avalanche-prone areas. These could be used by our victims - or even better versions could have been developed. So we may have more people saved on the slopes than we originally projected.
